Buy 2 get one free

Image
I was going to go on-line to buy him, but happened to go into Toys R' Us on friday...just in time for this 2 daysale. YEA!!!

P.S.

I finally saw "my moxie" in the store. Now I get it...she's a teenz, and the one I always see in   walmart  is the "girlz". After I compared them they do look like pre-teens. So mystery solved, for good:-) Thank you for all the input, it really is a wide undiscovered playground out there, and I'm ready for some fun.

Do you know who my new friend is?

Image
This one is my favorite. She's about 14 in. tall. She has full eyelashes and is articulated at the chest, but not at the waist. She's bald, but she is not a "LIV" doll, since there is no hole in her head, but I'm just assuming she did come w/a wig at some point. I love her bald; however I own enough weave hair to make several wigs at some time in the future*.*  When I did a "google" search for her, I found so many that looked similar, but she seems closest to the original "MOXIE" doll. I guess she was taller when they first were introduced, where now they look like younger teens.-I don't own one for comparison-sorry. So if you know who she is, please leave me a comment, thanks.

Newest Thrift store finds

Image
I have all kinds of ideas for these, but I'm working on a quilt, that should have been finished a while ago-first things first:-)

Dressed bit still no name:-(

Image
She looks like a bridesmaid or maybe part of the wedding party. There's a story in there somewhere:-) Still working on the hair. I hate to glue in hair, but I really don't want to take her head off to re-root such a small amount of hair. We'll see*.*

$7 @ the thrift store

Two dolls for $1.49. Great shape, just need hair and clothes. This black car for $4 was the best part. it needs a good scrubbing and maybe a coat of gloss acrylic spray. Baby toys for the nursery I might work on. ...and this little random sofa, also for the future nursery.

Two posts in one day...I'm hooked

Image
So one of my favorite blogs is "MY FROGGY STUFF". She is an artist, in my opinion, and uses just basic household items to make really cute doll accessories for 18in and fashion size dolls. Now when I go into a dollar store, party supplies...I'm seeing doll accessories-like these

Thrift store finds...I have to stop-but I don't want too:-)

Image
I don't know which doll line she is from; but when I saw her face I knew I had found my "red queen" and I wasn't even looking. Can't pass up a cute black girl. All three of these were less than $4.00. Now she blew me away. I didn't know that the BARBIE BASICS line was so hot, I mean fashion forward. Her hair is in bad shape;but nothing a hair cut and a  sharpie marker  won't fix.   and needless to say...I love her body. On some of the blogs, it seems that some people get a little uncomfortable w/ the sight of a "nude" doll. So good thing I can use paint in the most basic way. She's just going to wear a bathing suit and jewelry...the perfect "BOND" girl. Oh wow, I need a good name for her. Keep it clean:-)

I thought these would be my latest projects, but...

this baby was one of my grand daughter's. don't know what happened to her foot; still trying to figure out how to fix it. Found this  LIV doll at Wal-mart, marked down to $6. I was fascinated by the wig. Got it opened and hated the wig, her yellow bald head, and the way the wig is attached. I loved my first one, but this one not so much, so I let my gr.baby take her home:-)

Two guys from the thrift

Image
Both for less than $3. The brown haired one is a"Max Steele" action figure. Both are 12 inches tall. I'm still trying to find out who our jungle warrior is. Hopefully the stripes will come off his face, or he'll just be a rock star:-)

My first repaint

Image
He's a "My Scene" doll named Bryant. Originally he had blond hair, in a curly "fro"-Justin Timberlake circa 1998:-)  I found him in a consignment shop, w/his hair in terrible shape. So I cut it down, dyed it black, and butched him up a little w/facial hair and darker, heavier eyebrows. Also he's wearing a NYW original sock sweater, w/matching hat. He came in the shorts and sandals. The brand is interesting to me, in that the boys look like teens...and the girls look like-well you know what they look like. But they were/are marketed as couples  ; go figure.

First try, not too bad. Over-sized chair for 11 1/2 fashion doll.

Image
Next time the dress will be shorter and the hair bow bigger;overall I'm happy w/it. The chair has a foam core frame, covered w/batting. Then it is all upholstered w/ red brocade, and gold tasseled trim. The crystal tea set was a gift from a dear friend that I have since lost track of. I've had it for about 15 years.

Project in Progress

The "LIV" doll just screams "Alice in wonderland" to me. So I'm working on the "RED QUEEN'S" chair right now...1am and I have to be @ work at 10am...it is red brocade;large and tuffed. and then I'll dress my  "April Showers" in blue. Hopefully I'll have the pictures up by Saturday evening... hopefully:-)
