Looking for inspiration

http://www.huxleyking.com/huxlux-magnetic-paper-dolls/ I found these on a blog that appears to not have been active since 2009, but these are for magnetic paper-dolls. This image just really struck me for it's strength, and character in the faces and the poses. This artist hand drew this. So much talent. I like it so much, I don't even mind the "underwear"-they came a sheet of magnetic clothing according to the blogger. COOL. If I could learn to repaint/restyle fashion dolls like this, that would be awesome. We all must find our own style, for this diversity I am very thankful , since I am no artist; but there might just be room for my folksy style,w/ a bit of this type of flavor-flava:-) Thought I would share-Be happy*.*

Interesting find @ TUESDAY MORNING

There were alot of DORA items and these BARBIE doll outfits from 2002 celebrating different cultures-I picked Egypt-, but it's not close enough to payday for a splurge:-) The TM close to me rarely has anything good, doll related or otherwise, so I'm glad I popped in on my way home from work. On Friday, I hope they still have an assortment of outfits-the one for Canada has a pink fur coat...but none of them came w/shoes.   LIV is too small for the outfit, but her head is too big for the crown. she is wearing her new wig-it's windy outside. these must have been marketed overseas, and this one was imported from Barcelona, Spain. The inside cover sheet is actually a book about Egypt, like a tour, guided by various nationalities of Barbie dolls. The packages were dusty so it's not too hard to believe that these may have been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for the last 10 years.

Look what I found at the .99 cent store

Decided to take a little inventory. 20 in total, not bad for 2 months. Now to figure out what I'm doing, but I'm having fun finding out. It's the thrill of the hunt. Good thing I don't have much surplus money or this could get dangerous:-) includes Orange Blossom-new a 20 year old G.I. Joe- held together w/duct tape that belonged to my son who is now 25 . don't know how he ended up in my stuff, but you know Joe, he's resourceful:-) my new cutie black man, wearing a long black coat that looks like a robe. My second try didn't go so well. Neither did my closet. The scale is off. the rest are thrift store finds, waiting for their lives to begin.. and hopefully they will get to wear some clothes*.*

First try at men's clothes

I have been sewing since I was a child; Countless generations of skilled tailors, quilters and seamstresses. I just consider myself a quilter and a crafter and clothing construction has never been my strong suit-just ask my kids who have all at one time or another worn "home sewn" clothing of my creation. So when I re-discovered the world of fashion dolls, it seems that they have all been discovered w/o any clothes on. So making clothing is now my mission. Especially for the males...dresses are easy...jackets etc, even for a doll take a little more thought. So i went on the hunt for patterns and they seem to be a rarer breed that a black ken in a retail store:-) These are 3 of the books I have come up w/so far... This one was published in 1972 at the genesis of "Barbie Fever". And the author made a point of stating that she intentionally omitted patterns for that doll, since so much was available at that time. The male patterns were intended for a much taller
