NEW "DOLL" BABY STUFF

Image
Can you tell which was the "practice baby"?  I made a matching raw edge rag quilt to match. The secret to a cute result, keep adding fabric until the holes are filled:-). The more stitches the better. These probably won't be part of the layette sets, but I like to make dolls just for giggles;-)

NEW WALL HANGING

Image
I used every type of fabric I could get my hands on to create texture and depth.I gave it to my  friend  as a gift and she loved:-) So i guess I'm happy with it too.

Well...

I have been trying to get some good shots of the beautiful brocade quilt, but no photo does it justice. so it's time to move on the another project. I'm finishing up a wall hanging for a dear friend in Utah and i should have a photo of that soon.

brocades make a beautiful stack, but alot of work :o) my sisters "treasure pouch"

Another interesting web site

http://sewing.patternreview.com/ This is full of good info. on all things sewing...patterns,machines, etc.; even free on-line classes. There is a free basic membership or you can pay and get all the "bells and whistles". I found out about it at work, since Jo Ann's Fabrics offers the members of this site a 10% discount w/ proof of membership. Check it out, I would love some feed back-it seems pretty good at first glance.
Sooo ...I finished my anniversary gifts and got them in the mail:-) They came out cute, but not perfect. Hey, it was my first projects in over 3months, so I won't beat myself up about it, and it's for family-so they understand-right? Now on to a major undertaking, the brocade quilt. It's cut out and waiting to be sewn. Beautiful stack on the sewing table *.* I'll post some pics soon, and hopefully get some more baby quilts done. Thanks again.

Hand Embroidery

Image
This pink butterfly is for my daughter, she actually asked for it in pink. While I was not sewing , I worked on a few pieces of hand work. I do it to relax and I like the simplicity. Obviously I'm not the best, but I do what I like:-) In the mean time, I'm working on an asian themed quilt for my youngest out of an assortment of brocades-beautiful fabric, but a challenge to work with. And two anniversary gifts-wall hangings I think:-) But who knows what they will turn out to be. Also I have some back ordered baby quilts, and a ton of stuff for my mom. So my arm better get ready:-)

So...you thought I was gone for good...

It has been an interesting couple of months, but things are looking up. So i hope to be back @ the machine soon. I miss it. I haven't sewn anything since my arm decided to give out, but I'm excited to get it going again. I just have to narrow down what will be my first project. Too many...too many...:-) Thank you for your interest and support.

Just Checking In...Again:-)

I've been under the weather and haven't been sewing or crafting or anything really:-)  But wanted to say "I'll be back". Thanks for dropping in :->

"Fast "Bags

Image
Now I'm trying to just sell my bags on the street. Gotta do something, ya know. These are first 2. I can make 2 bags-basic totes- in 1hour 15 min.  My goal is to make 3 bags in 1 hour-not counting prep work. The denim one slowed me down since it needed a pocket. So I'm wearing my t-shirt and riding my bike and hopefull selling some totes and getting my name out there.

Check this out.

http://wardroberefashion.net/ Have you ever thought of not shopping for new clothes? Of making, or restyling clothes that you have already or got from the thrift? Well this woman lives her life that way and started a blog to share w/others. I'm going to try it for 2 months; which sould be easy enough since I don't really buy clothes anyway-lots of reasons...long story:-). But this is exciting since I sew all the time, work in a fabric store and love making strange garments any way.One day I'll show you my recycled workout t-shirts-the 80's rule:-)

More baby things.

Image
One of my dearest friends joined the " grandma club " last month. She welcomed the cutest baby boy into her family, and this is what i made for him.A tote-for mommy, burp cloth, bib and quilt.

Now is this a snake or what?

Image
My grandson saw a stuffed snake at a Dr.'s appt. the other day and had such a good time w/it I just had to make him one.I think I'll trim the tongue down alittle, but I like the look on it's face:-)

New Doll

Image
I made this for one of my aunts' in California. Can you tell she like's giraffs? :-) It's made out of canvas. I painted it freehand w/acrylics and embellished it w/jewels and trim.

More real baby things.

Image
It's been raining here for the last few days. And when it rains I sew. Just some things I made to send to one of my aunts. Baby things are a nice "pick-me-up".

The Beds

Image
This was my first try and hopefully my next one will be better. But w/ me you just never know:-)

Who Doesn't Love A Pretty Little Doll?

Image
Every since I saw these dolls, I fell in love w/them. 18 inch " Madam Alexander " girl dolls are very similar to the " American Girl " doll that has been popular since my daughter was little, and she's 25 now:-) But I  think these are prettier...just my opinion. I found the "african american" and the "asian american" doll clearanced at walmart a couple of months ago and have been trying to get these beds finished since then, but they are taking longer than I thought. First, I reinforce the box it came in w/foam core board , muslin and decoupage glue. During this process I make a head and foot board. Then it's painted. W/ the next one I'm going to let it dry overnight and give it a light sanding for a smoother surface. Last, the bedding is glued on, so that a 3 and a 4 year old can't destroy it....not to quickly anyway:-) After all it's only a box:-) This one's name is still Baby. And she's wearing her new kitty ni

Just Checking In

I haven't really finished anything lately, but I'm still here. Finally got 100 hits on my blog, which is interesting. I don't really know who takes a peek or why, but that's o.k....it will get better:-)
Check out my new profile picture.

Done and Done:-)

All this does is prove that there is no reason why I shouldn't be making and selling these things all the time.

4 bags completed

As of 10:30pm, I have 4 bags done, and my son has summited his game-MOCHIE- yea!!!! I'm so proud of him. So I'm going to stay up until midnight and get 2 more bags done. My new motto-"If you start it...finish it":-)

Weekend Challenge

My oldest is son is developing a video game for a competition, and the deadline is sunday January 31st at midnight. So I told him that if he can finish his game...then I can get 6 bags made by then. We agreed to this on Friday the 29th. So far I only have 2 bags made. We'll see what happens:-)

Have you ever had one of those days....

Image
...well I had one of those weekends:-) (a couple of weeks ago)... and so was born my fabric art piece "DARKNESS". 1John1:5-"...GOD is light and there is no darkness at all in union with HIM". It's painted faric, quilted on felt. I have to find a way to mount it so that it remains flat and straight.

Just an update.

Image
My computer is ka-put:-) I'm on my son's p.c.-but it will be a little while until I can get mine back up and running. I will be hard at work getting new things ready when I can post again.  THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT.

I'll have pictures of these soon...

Tonight I made 2 fleece jackets and 1 pair of pants for my grandbabies. When they came over this afternoon the weather was perfect, by 10pm it was 40* outside and they didn't have heavy jackets with them. Marathon sewing is fun sometimes. I've also been getting alot of ideas from such publications  as Quilting Arts and Stitch . Beautiful, artsy things. it just gets my brain going in different directions. So I hope soon to have some fruit of that labour.
